State winners look to national restaurant and catering awards

The foodservice operators judged the best in South Australia and in Brisbane are the latest to be honoured in the Restaurant and Catering Association’s state awards for excellence ahead of the national awards being announced in October.

In South Australia Magill Estate Restaurant has been announced Restaurant of the Year and also took the award for Best Fine Dining restaurant, while Epicure Catering at the State Library was named Caterer of the Year.

Assaggio Ristorante’s Camillo Crugnale is Chef of the Year and The Manse’s Christopher Brown is Apprentice of the Year.

Best New Restaurant is Kenji Modern Japanese.

In Brisbane Restaurant Two grabbed the Restaurant of the Year award—as well as the award for Best Modern Australian restaurant—and Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre picked up the gong for Caterer of the Year. Taking out the highly contested Best Chef/Owner Restaurant Award was Restaurant Manx, while Liquorish Bistro was name the best new restaurant. Queensland’s state winners will be announced next month.
